Talented students prepare for their roles in this year’s school musical, Chicago, promising drama, music, and a mix of choreographed dances straight out of the 1920s. Known for its iconic jazz music and interpretation of fame and corruption, Chicago opened Wednesday and will be showcased two more times today at 2p.m. and 7p.m.

Students Celebrate Wicked: For Good and Leaves Others Confusified

It’s been one year since part one of Wicked released in theaters, capturing the hearts of many theatre kids and moviegoers. This year, the highly anticipated sequel, Wicked: For Good, has arrived. The film picks up shortly after the events in the first film, following Elphaba, who is now the Wicked Witch of the West, and her clash with The Wizard. It also follows Glinda with her new rise in power as Glinda the Good. Wicked: For Good is packed full of tear-jerking and edge-of-your-seat moments.

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair

Let's take a trip back in time to the Victorian era. The Great Dickens Christmas Fair is an annual holiday event at the Brown Cow Palace exhibition halls in Daly City, California, which replicates Charles Dickens’s novella, A Christmas Carol, in late 1800s Victorian London. This wonderful experience includes entertainment, food, friendly costumed performers, and artisan stalls consisting of homemade goods! Wander through the unique streets and alleys while you enjoy a traditional cone of sweet roasted chestnuts. Enjoy the wonderful smell of fresh-baked goods while watching a street performer juggle knives while balancing on a piece of wood on top of a cylinder.

Working in Harmony

Voices blend as the absence of background music makes more space for their harmonizing. Albany High School’s acapella group, Vocal Soul, is made up of 16 singers in the choir program. They perform a variety of genres, from pop to holiday classics. Members learn more about harmonies and different vocal techniques. “Vocal Soul has taught me a lot about being part independent and working with the group to be as cohesive as possible,” senior June Ritzman explained.
