Albany High School has welcomed a new campus supervisor this year, who also happens to be an AHS alum, Tyler Georgeson-Hartman.
After graduating from AHS, Hartman went on to focus on an athletic career in college. He says, “What I did after graduating high school was I went to Laney College, which is a Division II school in Oakland. I finished by going to Holy Names University, which was a Division II school.” Athletics are still a big part of his life. When asked about his hobbies outside of work, Hartman says, “Sports; I was a baseball player.”
Now back at AHS as staff, Hartman explains why he loves his new job. He says, “Interacting with all the students so far, getting to know everyone and just meeting all the kids is my favorite part of the job.” As he looks back at his time at AHS as a student, he recalls the same focus on connection. Hartman says, “When I was in high school, it was mostly meeting my friends.”
With his memories as a student and his experience as a college athlete and now high school staff member, Hartman offers some advice to students as they figure out their paths. Hartman says, “One piece of advice I would say is to explore whatever you want in high school. I think a lot of kids are narrow-minded, so just have an open mind and try new things and meet new people”
