Wednesday Muse; Edwards Backs Obama

Edwards Endorses Obama

In a move that shocked the political world and erased any positive news Clinton may have received from her dominating win in West Virginia, Barack Obama received John Edwards’ endorsement and the 18 pledged delegates that came along with it.

Edwards had been the most sought endorsement, due to the following he still commands (he got 7% of the vote in West Virginia, despite having dropped out of the race) and the delegates he carries. Though it is not a guarantee that all Edwards delegates will go to Obama, the likelihood is that the delegates he receives from winning “the John Edwards primary” will be more important (delegatewise) than 42 states.

Obama has now received endorsements from four candidates who ran for president this year: John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd, and Bill Richardson, while Clinton has received the endorsement of one, Tom Vilsack (who hardly counts, since he dropped out nearly a year before anybody voted).

RCP Market buyers now have Clinton at a 6% chance of winning the nomination, and that’s the Muse.
