WANTED: Boys Varsity goalie…?

Boys Varsity soccer is in need of a goalie- No experience necessary! If you’re an athlete with good hands, come down to Cougar Field and talk with Coach Ko any day this week.

Not something you’d except to hear from a varsity team, but it was in fact, true.

Senior Evan Schumacher did not return this year, forcing the team to fill his spot with a new goalie. Senior Josh Hong was the replacement goalie until he broke his finger, and unfortunately, the Varsity boys team didn’t have a backup. They were left scrambling to fill the position for upcoming games.

The team brought up sophomore Timmy Juwono from J.V. and held open tryouts in hopes of finding an amazing goalie. Several boys tried out and only senior Gerardo Leon made it for a short amount of time.

According to the players, Juwono is doing well so far and Hong will be back soon.

Senior captain Richie Bertone believes that despite this setback they still have a very good chance at making North Coast Section (NCS) and they, “have a really strong defense and the opposing teams will have a hard time getting through it.”

The Cougars are 5-3-2.

   lol the last game I went to Sam K. got a red card for telling the St. Mary’s coach to Shut the F#%^ up when he yelled at him. Priceless. But ya more people should go to their games its hella fun.
