Ted Barone named AHS principal
On Tuesday May 22nd, the Albany Unified School District Board of Education appointed Ted Barone as Albany High School’s new principal. Barone will be replacing Ron Rosenbaum, who announced his retirement on February 28th.
Barone comes to Albany High School from Burlingame Intermediate School where he served as principal. Previously, Barone was principal at Terra Linda High School in San Rafael, vice-principal at Balboa High School in San Francisco and assistant principal at A.P. Giannini Middle School in San Francisco.
Barone taught for 17 years prior to his 10 years as an administrator.
In a letter to the community, board member Charlie Blanchard stated, “Barone has a record as a leader in online communications, multimedia technology, collaborative decision-making among parents, teachers and students, and the use of standards and accountability to track student progress.”
Barone will officially begin work on July 1st, 2007 but may visit prior to the end of the school year.
He and his family live in Mill Valley, California.
Three elementary principals were appointed at the meeting as well. Lynda Hornada will be principal at Marin Elementary, Wendy Holmes at Cornell Elementary, and Terry Georgeson will return to the district as principal of Ocean View Elementary.

Huh, looks like he seems pretty fair-minded, the whole Kaffir Boy book banning which he tried to clear up is good points for him in my mind. Guy also seems to have an eye for refurbishing broken down buildings, maybe we’ll be looking at new seats in the Little Theater. Eh, we’ll just have to see.

This is a very inept and weak leader. Watch your back. Observe someone talking out of both sides of their mouth. Intellectual snob. Good luck Cougars students and staff! It is jolting to think this was the best candidate for the position. Read all the postings at the Burlingame Voice for a fuller picture of what you will be dealing with.

key word……..MIGHT……..check out the Burlingame Intermediate School website…….they are almost completely without designated key leadership positions filled in the administration and counseling positions…….as there was a mass exodus from the place……..and it wasn’t because of poor seat quality………

Ignore anonymous, above, and don’t look to the Burlingame Voice for any quality information! The Burlingame Voice is a gossipy, mean-spirited local smut machine which a petty few in Burlingame use to anonymously flame their neighbors and local businesses. Give your new principal, Mr. Barone, a chance– to most of reasonable folks in this peninsula town, he was a fair-minded nice guy, a good listener, and someone who worked to build a better community in our middle school. Also, our mass exodus is more due to teachers’ union and morale issues at the district level (we nearly had a strike last year!) than to any one principal– this is a district-wide concern!

He’s not THAT bad…he just has a difficult way of communicating with the students…I get the impression that he is a nice guy and can be friendly, as long as you’re not misbehaving…Though sometimes he seems condescending when I asked him about AP Environmental Science, he asked what math I was in and responded to my question about enrolling in the course in a sort of condescending laugh that hurt my ego a little bit…Also, in the yearbook, wasn’t he voted to be said to have some kind of physical similarity to Albert Einstein? Lol, I think that got to his head a little bit because he acts like he’s that supernaturally intelligent and although he IS smart, he is not all that and a big bag of potato chips….
