Seniors trump Juniors in Powder-Puff finals

Seniors make a strong entranceThe Senior Class of 2008 started homecoming week off on a good foot as they crushed the Junior Class of 2009 in the Powder-Puff football championship game, 28-18.

The juniors took the ball to start the game and, following a controversial play, were able to go down the field and score a touchdown. They opted to go for the two-point conversion rather than take the automatic one point, and failed to convert it.

On the seniors’ opening drive, quarterback Laura Cannon found her sister Joan for a deep touchdown pass. The seniors took the one point, giving them a 7-6 lead.

The juniors were stopped on their next possession as they turned the ball over on downs. With only two plays before halftime, the seniors picked up a good chunk of yardage on a run by Sarah Hsieh and followed it up with another deep touchdown to Joan Cannon on the final play of the half.

Once again, the seniors came out and scored to start the second half and take a 21-6 lead. However, the juniors came back with a score of their own, but again failed to convert the two-point play, making the score 21-12. Both classes added another touchdown over the remainder of the game, resulting in a final score of 28-18.

Following the final play, the seniors stormed the court to chants of “08!” while the juniors looked on from the bleachers.
