Homecoming 2008: Twin Day!
Despite the new curfew in place, the seniors did not disappoint to kick off our homecoming week with an excess of spirit. Streamers hung from trees, chalk covered the steps, banners hung in every which direction, windows painted, and of course, the yellow duck atop the lunch shelter. Copious amounts of caution tape warned underclassmen and juniors of evident senior domination. Not only were the grounds smothered in yellow, but the atrium was littered with balloons and streamers over the entrance of the main doors.
Monday was twin day, the traditional first day for homecoming week. More often than not, however, are the “twins” usually along the lines of triplets or quintuplets. A little class color here and there gave matching outfits an extra flair of spirit as twins lined up the stands for boy’s volleyball preliminaries to cheer for their classes.
From matching togas to matching bandanas, everybody grabbed a buddy and brought out some Albany spirit. Official numbers from Ms. Benau and Ms. Charlip are in: seniors with a whopping 56 pairs, juniors close behind with 50, sophomores with a decent 38, and unfortunately, no freshmen showed up to be counted. Remember to show up in the courtyard at lunch to be counted for your spirit!
Things are only heating up. Class spirit is sure to erupt as Powderpuff and Class Color Day draw near. Monday afternoon through night the juniors will be busy bees, orange bees that is. The seniors will be a tough act to follow, but the juniors aren’t known to miss expectations set by their predecessors.
Stay tuned for Powderpuff Finals and Disney Day!
