Guide to this year’s Homecoming

Last year’s lipsync was lots of funDon’t forget to stop by the basketball courts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at lunch to help your class gain Spirit Day points for dressing up!

THURSDAY/FRIDAY 10/25-26

Lunchtime Event: Powderpuff Prelims (held in the gym)
Thursday at lunch Freshmen vs. Juniors
Friday at lunch Sophomores vs. Seniors

Powderpuff, or girls’ flag football, was traditionally held at Cougar or Memorial Field. However, this year it has been divided into three separate lunch periods and is to be held in the gym due to field renovations as well as safety concerns of the administration.

MONDAY 10/29

Lunchtime Event: Powderpuff Finals (held in the gym)

Spirit Day: Twin Day
Grab a friend, or even a group of friends, to dress up for Twin Day! Be unique and creative; one year, seniors Kenley Lam and Jose Rivera wore matching scuba suits complete with snorkeling equipment!

TUESDAY 10/30

Lunchtime Event: Boys Volleyball Prelims (held in the gym)
Show support for your class by attending the side-by-side Boys Volleyball Prelim matches in the gym at lunch! Freshmen will be playing against the Juniors, while Sophomores are pitted against the Seniors.

Spirit Day: Class Color Day
Class Color Day, formerly known as Color War Day, is your chance to show class pride by rocking your class color: Freshmen – green; Sophomores – orange; Juniors – yellow; Seniors – pink.

WEDNESDAY 10/31

Lunchtime Event: Food Eating Contest (held in the amphitheatre)
Watch members of your class participate in the ridiculous and hilarious Food Eating Contest, which consists of different challenges involving all kinds of food and drink.

Spirit Day: Dress up for Halloween

THURSDAY 11/1

Event: Boys Volleyball Finals

Spirit Day: Generation Day
Generation designations as follows:
Freshmen – Babies; Sophomores – Toddlers; Juniors – Adults; Seniors – Senior Citizens; Faculty – Teenagers.

FRIDAY 11/2

Homecoming Pep Rally
The Homecoming Rally consists of sports recognition, games, cheering contests, and performances by student organizations and teams. Show class and school spirit!
Attendance is MANDATORY; teachers will be taking role in the gym.

Lunchtime Event: Lip Sync Contest (in the amphitheatre)
No doubt the biggest event of Homecoming Week – a group of representatives from each class will perform a lip sync routine. Judges will be members of AHS faculty.

Spirit Day: Crazy Red & White Day
Show school spirit by wearing red and white!

SATURDAY 11/3

Homecoming Football Game vs. St. Mary’s; JV at 12:00. Varsity at 2:30

Homecoming Dance 8:00 – 11:00 pm
Guests from other schools are allowed to attend the Homecoming Dance provided that a completed Guest Pass Application is returned by Thursday, 11/1. Guest Pass forms can be picked up in the Attendance Office. Breathalyzers will be enforced at the dance.

And finally, a friendly reminder!
Please remember that all school rules still apply during the course of Homecoming Week. Hazing, vandalism, and other inappropriate behaviors will NOT be tolerated. Although we encourage you all to get creative and have fun with Spirit Days, you will be sent home if you violate the school dress code.
