Cougars suffer another league loss; finish tonight

Junior Clifton Brown protects the ballAs the Albany football team took the field in its homecoming and senior football game against the cross-town rival St. Mary’s Panthers on November 3rd, the Cougars were looking to improve their lackluster record. Unfortunately, when the clock showed 0:00, and the teams walked off the field, Cougars were on the wrong end of the score.

After the Panthers took an early 7-0 lead, the Cougars offense stormed onto the field and immediately tightened the score to 7-6.

Missed opportunities in the red zone haunted the Cougars. After Daniel Singh got sacked on fourth down and on the ensuing possession threw a costly interception, the Cougars went into the halftime trailing 20-6, regretting their wasted opportunities.

The second half wasn’t much of an improvement for the Cougars. Even though the Cougars scored another touchdown and converted the two-point conversion, the Panthers weren’t planning on being upset.

After two straight wins to start the season, the Cougars season has gone downhill. The talent is out on the field, but it can’t be converted into wins, and the team’s 2-7 record is evidence of that. Hopefully, they can end the season with a win at John Swett on November 9th, so come out and support the Cougars as they attempt to go out on a winning note.
