Cougars Finish Season With Victory

The Albany Cougar football team wrapped up their season on a positive note, defeating the John Swett Indians 40-21 on November 13. The Cougars took a slim 15-14 lead going into halftime due to a clutch field goal by Thomas Rocroi.

The second half was completely dominated by the Cougars, with touchdowns by seniors Alex Jones, Andrew Spivey, Ellis Stephney, Jelani Moore, and junior Jerry Guruli.

Their defense held the opponents to only 7 points in the second half, due partly to fumble recoveries by both Spivey and junior Ed Kim. It was a positive way for the Cougars to end a quite frustrating season.

The football Cougars finished the season with an overall record of 3-7, and 2-5 in league. The Cougars had high hopes going into the season, due to an improved coaching staff and experienced and talented players.

“It was a disappointing season, and the outcome wasn’t great,” said junior Robert Crowley. “However, it was a good group of players, and we look forward to us succeeding next year.”
