Cougars fall in BSAL championships

Disappointed fans react to the lossSaturday night was one that most Albany Volleyball players and fans would like to forget soon. For the fourth year in a row, St. Mary’s defeated Albany in the BSAL championship. It also continued the streak of Albany defeating St. Mary’s in the regular season, but losing to them in the BSAL championship.

From the beginning of the game, Albany came out flat and for St. Mary’s it was the Tarah Murrey show. Murrey, had kill after kill and single-handedly led St. Mary’s to a 3-0 victory.

Albany may have come out flat, because of the momentum they lost on Thursday night vs. St. Joes in the semi-finals. Albany played a terrible match vs. St Joes and it looked like it carried out into Saturday night’s championship game.

For Albany, the season is not over yet. They earned a number two seed in NCS and host a home game on Wednesday November 14 at 7:00 PM. against Drake. Drake went 22-13 on the year.

In the past Albany has gone out early in NCS. This year’s squad has a lot to prove.
