And The Votes Are In!

Obama Wins AHS Mock Election!

Though it is not likely a surprise to the progressive town of Albany, Barack Obama obliterated all candidates in the AHS mock election on October 22, raking in 86% of the student vote.

With an actual population of 1,300, 572 out of the 750 registered students participated in Wednesday’s mock election, which was organized by the AHS Connect program and supported by the League of Women Voters.

AHS junior and participant Gaby Benschop-Castaner commented, “I thought it was very interesting and I think our mock election was based on reality. Like the fact that only some of the registered voters actually voted at the polls is like reality in the sense that many adults forget to vote or are too busy at the time.”

Juliet Chiarella, a mock election coordinator reported, “I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from the faculty and I think it was a tremendous experience for the students involved in running it, they were enthusiastic as well. The turnout was also incredible, the fact that almost 50% of the students took the initiative to register and vote is remarkable. Overall it was a great operation and there were many awesome students and teachers behind it that made it happen. ”

The results are as follows:

  2. I find it interesting that even in Albany 19% of the people who voted chose “Yes” on Proposition 8.
    Didn’t see that one coming.
