Albany beats a strong St. Joe’s

Albany High’s varsity basketball team had a momentous victory over a previously unbeatable Saint Joseph’s team. Albany’s early lead kept Saint Joe’s on their toes. Their great teamwork allowed for a great distribution of points and rebounds. Ilari Rydberg with 14 rebounds and Connor Freeberg’s 12 points and 8 rebounds became the backbone of the team. Their total domination of the basket became critical in keeping the lead against Saint Joseph and maintaining control of the court.

Additionally, Jordan Johnson and Alex Assia with 12 points and 9 points respectively were also key players in Albany’s victory. Ahmed Khater, point guard for the Albany varsity team said, “watching our team play with great execution and confidence is something you don’t see often against top teams.” If Albany continues to play with this strength, their journey to BSAL or even NCS may not be too far.
